Hypertensive emergency. Avoid in asthma, heart block, decompensated failure.

0.25-0.5 mg/kg IV bolus (max 20 mg); infusion 0.25-3 mg/kg/hr. That is 0.25–0.5 mg/kg per dose.

The maximum single dose is 20 mg. Weight-based calculation should never exceed this ceiling.

Labetalol is given by IV.
